I suspected I was partly to blame for this as the Tubers were very close to the surface and I should have mulched as you suggested. Lesson learned. I grew these specific Canna just to add to my Edible Plant list, not to mention how beautiful they were.<br /> I have thought of planting Oca but the only organic tubers I have seen for sale were very expensive so I put it off. I grew the Canna from seed, way cheaper!<br /> The Prickly Pear surprised me also. I am from NY, almost 600 miles north of where I live now, and Prickly Pear flourish through the longer colder winters there with no problem. <br />Thanks again,<br />Peace<br /><br />PS Checked out your website, Cacti and Succulents are my favorite plants.
